Summary
Since 1907, “Parker has been challenging, changing, and expanding the idea of what it means to grow older in America.” As part of their mission to “make aging part of life,” they continue to refresh the look and feel of their communities to enrich the aging experience. MDP designed Parker at Stonegate over 15 years ago and is now working to infuse new life into the interior design, starting with the dining venues.

Inspired Design
As part of the mission to challenge, change, and expand the senior living experience, this project was about taking a more casual approach to Assisted Living dining. The once private dining area was opened up to serve as the hub of the community. Every design detail was meant to transform this area into an enticing destination full of life and light.
Style
The refreshed design layers the “grand mansion” architectural influences with modern details. It transforms the warm, dark household feel into a vibrant hospitality experience. In addition to opening up the space plan, windows were enlarged to provide more expanses of glass for access to natural light. A lighter palette continues to brighten the space with clean lines and modern details that complement the existing architecture.
Materials
Natural materials were emphasized in the palette selection. Warm cherry wood is complemented by light travertine and an array of textures and patterns on the floor, upholstery, and window treatments. Millwork, ceiling details, and focal walls use color, texture, or contrast to frame views. Signature light fixtures and artwork add to the visual interest of this welcoming community space.
